There is always something happening in Fanore. Whether you like to walk, climb, fish, swim or just relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and scenery. The Great Burren Run takes place in Fanore later this month, the most spectacular half marathon run in the world!

On Saturday, 20 August, the second Fanore Burren Half Marathon will take place in Fanore. It will also include a 10K Run (jog, run or walk).
Both events will start and end at O’Donohue’s Pub in Fanore. Starting time is 11.00 am. Each participant will receive a commemorative medal. There will be water stations and light snacks along the route, and refreshments will be available at O’Donohue’s after the event.
The Half Marathon will take you across the beautiful beach, where you will ford the Caher River (appropriate footwear is essential!) and into Caher Valley, taking in parts of the famous Green Road before returning to the starting point via the (downhill) tar road through Balliny.
The 10K Run will take you up the slopes towards Slieve Elva and down Bóthar na hAillte, from where you will get an amazing view of Galway Bay, the Aran Islands and the Pins of Connemara. You will return to O’Donohue’s Pub via the Coast Road
