The Aran Islands are one of the last outposts of Gaelic Civilisation where Irish is still the spoken language of the inhabitants. The stunningly beautiful islands are an extension of the Burren. Ferry Services (30mins) operate to the islands from Doolin pier, which is only 5 miles away. This exciting trip begins with a view of the spectacular Cliffs of Moher to the South and the Connemara hills to the North
Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Ireland’s most complete and authentic Medieval splendour. The folk park, set on 26 acres, recreates 19th century Ireland and features include a recreated village street, farmhouses, a watermill, blacksmith forge, Mac’s pub and restaurant and a display of 19th Century agricultural machinery. Burren Centre
Newly refurbished, the centre’s exhibits uncover the secrets of the Burren’s people and environment. See the story of the formation of the Burren Landscape. Also visit the Ancient High Crosses of Kilfenora to the rear of the centre
Burren Perfumery
The perfumery was founded over 35 years ago, inspired by the 700 species of flowing plants found in this area. As well as a shop, there is an audiovisual photographic exhibition and organic herb garden
